The Orchard is a new neighborhood located outside the town limits of Chapel Hill and Carrboro just off Jones Ferry Road.  In the 1970s this land was planted with a large variety of specimen trees.  Today, over 40 varieties of trees may be found in The Orchard. The developer, Black Diamond Properties, has taken great care to preserve and showcase the trees which are such an integral part of this land. 18 two acre lots, all surrounded by open space, have been created. The neighborhood also provides a walking trail that winds through some of the open space offering opportunities to view the natural surroundings.
