1007 Golf Street:
Built in 1937, this charming bungalow has undergone major renovations over the years. Most recently in the summer of 2008, the following work was completed: new roof and gutters, new exterior and interior paint, hardwood floors refinished, back yard landscaping completely redone along with a new fence and a new deck outside the potting shed. The Old West Durham Neighborhood is rich in history and landmarks. It has a strong neighborhood group that is actively involved in the community. The Golf Street bungalow offers lots of ways to enjoy the outdoors. The front porch of course gives access to the friendly neighborhood of walkers. The rear fenced yard is a private oasis. A 2 level deck just off the rear of the home gives a lovely view of the back yard.
A path winds down the center of the yard with plantings to either side. A small patio/ sitting area is in the center of the yard. The path ends at a potting shed at the rear of the yard. Just adjacent to the potting shed is another deck for entertaining or quiet times.
Inside the home newly refinished floors and fresh paint accent lovely old details, such as glass door knobs which blend nicely with the more modern touches of ceiling fans.
The “shotgun” floor plan is illustrated in this photo taken in the living room. Here you can see thru the French doors to the dining room to the kitchen.
The kitchen, complete with breakfast nook, is bright and sunny with tile floors, antique pine counter tops, tile backsplash and both open and closed cabinets. Just off the kitchen is a small screened porch which opens onto the 2 level deck. There is also a small study in the lower level that is accessed by an exterior door on the side of the house.
